New York: Collaboration & Community: The Root System of Therapeutic Horticulture - Anne Meore LMSW, HTR & Dr. Christine Meore
Wednesday, 8 November, 2023 - 11:45

We were so fortunate that Anne and Christine were coming to Europe for a family trip and were willing to spend a day sharing their work and meeting fellow practitioners at the Bield.

Presentation Description: Connectedness and support are as important for us as they are for our plants. Without them, we struggle, but with them, we flourish. These are two of several critical components which are foundational as we develop our therapeutic horticulture curricula and program settings. In this talk, I will share how these factors were instrumental in building two therapeutic programs from concept to reality: "The Garden of Hope" at Good Samaritan Hospital-A member of the Westchester Health Network in Suffern, New York, and "The G.R.O.W. Healing Garden" at the J. J. Peters Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Bronx, New York. It is my hope that by sharing both the challenges and successes at these two sites, they may serve as an example of how our work is more productive and impactful when we connect with others and cultivate a community of support.
