The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is looking for a Community Engagement Manager to join our Public Engagement team. The role is a job share 12 month fixed term contract, covering maternity leave (22.2 hours per week).
Reporting to the Head of Public Engagement, your role will cover working across the Botanic Cottage and Demonstration Garden. You will manage of 2 staff and approximately 30 volunteers. You will be involved in planning and delivering RBGE’s community programme including the Edible Gardening Project. You will also be involved in developing and supporting the strategy and programme for community use of the Botanic Cottage.
Applicants should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, be highly organised, have strong project planning and management experience, confident communicators and have prior budget management experience. You should also have previous experience of managing staff and volunteers. You should have an interest in horticulture and some practical knowledge. It is not essential to have any formal horticultural training.

At Tiphereth we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Day Service Co-Worker in our, outdoor land, estates and community gardening group, the Peregrine Group.
You will provide support and motivation to people with learning disabilities to participate in meaningful work on the land, in community gardening and estates maintenance. You will be enthusiastic and positive about the potential of people to participate, learn and grow. You will bring experience of support work and knowledge of land based work such as gardening or conservation. You need to work well as part of a team, have good communication skills and be motivated by Camphill’s values and ethos. A full driving licence including willingness to drive a minibus is an essential requirement.
The Peregrine Group works in partnership with other social organisations, helping to make a difference by contributing their skills and time for social good and the benefit of others. Tiphereth is a Camphill community in Edinburgh based around supported accommodation, social enterprises and day services for adults with learning disabilities and other support needs.

Lothlorien is a Therapeutic Community for people with mental health difficulties situated in a quiet rural setting in South West Scotland. We are looking to recruit a full-time male Therapeutic Gardening Co-ordinator and we also have Relief Gardener positions available. This is a dynamic and exciting opportunity to work within a Therapeutic Community environment. We are looking for a creative individual who can inspire our residents to connect with gardening as a route to recovery and wellbeing. The garden plays a central part in helping people connect with a sense of meaning and purpose in their recovery at Lothlorien Community. The person appointed will be coming into an organic vegetable garden with scope for innovation. We provide a structured gardening programme pitched at an appropriate level for people in recovery from mental health problems. This can have a very positive effect on mental wellbeing by having a grounding and healing effect, as well as providing people with the opportunity to develop their self-esteem, confidence and skills when working towards recovery. The therapeutic and relational aspects of the work are more important than being goal-orientated. Working with residents to foster a sense of participation, belonging, inclusion, mutual respect, at a pace and level with which they are comfortable is key.
