Redhall is a mental health service based in an award winning walled garden/six acre estate in Edinburgh. In a beautiful outdoor setting we promote recovery from mental health difficulties through the medium of organic gardening, conservation, team working and IT/admin work. There is a strong group work emphasis with staff working collaboratively with the people attending our service to build a centre of excellence. This job requires high levels of physical stamina and personal resilience.
We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic and practical individual to join our team of eight. Applicants should have:
- Proven experience of supporting people/group work in an outdoor setting.
- Experience and good understanding of working with mental health issues
- Qualification in horticulture
- Proven horticultural experience both garden and estate work.
- Proven experience of team working
- Good understanding of Health and Safety Assessment procedures.
- Good communication skills
- Experience in preparing and delivering horticultural training
- Good working knowledge of horticultural machinery

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and our environment. We are concerned about climate change and by the impact of rising food and fuel costs. We would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet. Our community garden sites provide
• great volunteering and educational opportunities
• the facilities, training and inspiration to encourage local people to grow and eat fruit and vegetables
• a free resource of healthy food for the community
We are now seeking a sessional Community Gardener to work as part of the Greener Kirkcaldy team to support the volunteers who develop and maintain our community garden and orchard at Ravenscraig Walled Gardens in Kirkcaldy.
Hours of work: up to 7 hours per week. Rate of pay: £15 per hour, on a self-employed basis. Click here for the Community Gardener (sessional) – job description. Our volunteer sessions run on Friday mornings and Saturday afternoons, so you will need to be available at one or both of these times.
You will have excellent communication skills, a strong track record of working with volunteers, and will take a supportive and empowering ‘community development’ approach. We are looking for someone who is able to work with a wide range of people from all backgrounds, including young people, older volunteers, and volunteers with additional support needs. You will also be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener, with wide experience of growing fruit and vegetables organically, and (ideally) experience of working in community or therapeutic gardening.How to Apply:
