Community Gardener (sessional)
Organisation:
Greener Kirkcaldy, Fife
Salary:
£15 per hour, on a self-employed basis
Hours:
7 hours per week.
Job Description:

Are you skilled and experienced in working with volunteers? Do you know your friendly garden bugs from your slugs, and your Alliums from your Brassicas?

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and our environment. We are concerned about climate change and by the impact of rising food and fuel costs. We would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet. Our community garden sites provide
• great volunteering and educational opportunities
• the facilities, training and inspiration to encourage local people to grow and eat fruit and vegetables
• a free resource of healthy food for the community
We are now seeking a sessional Community Gardener to work as part of the Greener Kirkcaldy team to support the volunteers who develop and maintain our community garden and orchard at Ravenscraig Walled Gardens in Kirkcaldy.
Hours of work: up to 7 hours per week. Rate of pay: £15 per hour, on a self-employed basis. Click here for the Community Gardener (sessional) – job description. Our volunteer sessions run on Friday mornings and Saturday afternoons, so you will need to be available at one or both of these times.

You will have excellent communication skills, a strong track record of working with volunteers, and will take a supportive and empowering ‘community development’ approach. We are looking for someone who is able to work with a wide range of people from all backgrounds, including young people, older volunteers, and volunteers with additional support needs. You will also be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener, with wide experience of growing fruit and vegetables organically, and (ideally) experience of working in community or therapeutic gardening.
